Cruel Summer is ready to bring viewers back into the mysteries of a teenage friendship with the trailer for season 2.

The new season premieres June 5 at 9/8c on Freeform. The new trailer for the series shows how intensely the friendship between two girls unravels as each girl learns more about the other.

As Shadow and Act reported in January, the series is the second in an anthology that follows a teen friendship that becomes tainted as secrets begin to reveal themselves.

Set in an idyllic waterfront town in the Pacific Northwest, the next chapter of “Cruel Summer” follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship. Approaching the story from three different timelines surrounding Y2K, the season twists and turns as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan’s best friend Luke, the love triangle that blossomed, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.

The series stars Lexi Underwood, Sadie Stanley, Griffin Gluck, Lisa Yamada, KaDee Strickland and Sean Blakemore, with Braeden De La Garza and Paul Adelstein recurring. Cruel Summer is created by Bert V. Royal with Elle Triedman serving as showrunner. Triedman, Bill Purple, Tia Napolitano and Iron Ocean Productions’ Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple executive produce. The series is produced by eOne.
