Erica Tazel and Delroy Lindo join Cush Jumbo and Christine Baranski in CBS’ spin-off of its critically-acclaimed legal drama series, “The Good Wife,” which will be available exclusively on CBS All Access next month, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service. Following “Star Trek,” it will be the second original series developed specifically for CBS All Access. So CBS is serious about its streaming platform, creating content specifically for it, putting it in direct competition with bigger players in the space.
The spin-off series, titled “The Good Fight,” picks up one year after the events from the finale episode of “The Good Wife,” as Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) joins Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
Jumbo and veteran of the series Baranski are the spin-off series leads.
Lindo plays Robert Boseman, an attorney and partner (as we learn in the new interview with CBS.com below) in a successful African American owned and operate firm called Reddick Boseman and Kolstad, who poaches Diane’s (Baranski) associates and clients when she gets into financial trouble, threatening her ability to stay in business, the network announced Thursday. Lindo’s character “dominates every scene, intimidates every lawyer, and is beloved by every client,” executive producers Robert and Michelle King said in a statement. “He needs to look like a Chicago lawyer, but have a Shakespearean facility with language.”
Tazel plays (as we learn in the new interview with CBS.com below) Barbara Kolstad, Boseman’s (Lindo’s) partner at Reddick Boseman and Kolstad, again, an African American firm on the rise that generates a portion of its revenue from trying police brutality cases successfully, in the Chicago area.
Rounding out the key cast are Rose Leslie, Sarah Steele, Paul Guilfoyle, and Bernadette Peters.
“The Good Fight” will premiere on February 19. It will be available on-demand on CBS All Access beginning at 8 p.m. ET. In addition, a special broadcast preview of the premiere will air on CBS that same night at 8 p.m./7c. After premiere night, all new episodes will be available weekly on Sundays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers.
