If you enjoyed Diarra Kilpatrick on the Viola Davis-produced ABC digital satirical series, American Koko, you’re in luck, because she may soon star in a comedy at Amazon.
The Climb is about “the new American Dream set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing Detroit.” The Climb follows an office assistant who seeks an extraordinary life through internet fame, with her best friend always in tow. The New Edition Story and Star director Chris Robinson directed the pilot, which shot on location in Detroit. Christina Lee served as showrunner on the pilot episode. The Mark Gordon Company is producing and serving as the studio on the project along with Amazon Studios.
This is a significant step for Diarra Kilpatrick with a pilot getting picked up by Amazon, which could become an Amazon series if it gets enough audience interest.
The Climb will air alongside two other comedy pilots on Amazon Prime before a pick-up decision is made.
Kilpatrick is also set for a role on The Last O.G., Tracey Morgan and Tiffany Haddish’s comedy set for TBS in 2018.
