Home Alone is a Christmas classic that has remained popular for more than three decades. When photos circulated on social media showing several cast members reuniting, fans expressed excitement at what appeared to be a gathering 35 years after the film’s 1990 release.

Who were the cast members in the alleged ‘Home Alone’ reunion?

On Dec. 16, a Facebook page called “Movie Quotes” shared a photo of Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, sitting together for coffee and dessert. The page alluded to a reunion based on the trio’s (complicated relationship in the movie and its 1992 sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

“REUNITED AFTER 35 YEARS 🎄✨Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern reunited to celebrate the 35th anniversary of HOME ALONE, the holiday classic that raised an entire generation and still owns Christmas. The traps, the screams, the chaos — all unforgettable. Seeing them together again feels like pure nostalgia and childhood memories hitting at once 🏠💥🎁,” the post reads.

Are the reunion photos real?

Other user accounts have since shared the photo across all social media platforms, with some claiming it is real, according to Snopes. However, to the outlet, the image is fake and created with artificial intelligence.

The Angel Cakes Bakery in Dubai first shared the photos in an Instagram carousel on Dec. 15, promoting its business and holiday items.

“Christmas friends stopped by to enjoy our limited Christmas dessert 🎄, the company wrote in the post’s caption.

Signs of AI-generated photos

Fans may have believed the reunion was real, but Snopes noted that other credible outlets have not reported on the alleged get-together.

The six photos Angel Cakes posted showed signs of AI-generated imaging, with differences in Culkin’s hands and the rings he wore in each, per Snopes. Another sign was the youthful appearance of Pesci, 82, and Stern, 78, in the images.

While fans may have loved the idea of a real reunion, they will have to wait a little longer for the real thing.
