Jon Favreau, who directed last year’s live-action/CGI “The Jungle Book” movie, with voice actors that included Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o and Giancarlo Esposito, is currently prepping his next film, another live-action adaptation of a beloved work of animation, “The Lion King,” which tells the story of Simba, a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands.

Earlier this evening, via his Twitter account, Favreau announced the actors who had been voice-cast to bring Simba and Mufasa to life: Donald Glover and James Earl Jones.

The project is set up at Disney studios.

Donald Glover is so certainly hot right now, following the widespread acclaim he received for his freshman FX series “Atlanta,” including two Golden Globe Awards – Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy. He also was cast to play a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming stand-alone Han Solo “Star Wars” movie, and will appear in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” A second season of “Atlanta” is also due in 2018.

James Earl Jones has spend the better part of the last couple of years using that famous voice of his on the big and small screen; in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (Darth Vader), and 2 seasons of the animated series “Star Wars Rebels” (also voicing Darth Vader). He also starred in the Broadway production of “The Gin Game” alongside another veteran and celebrated actress, Cicely Tyson.

There is currently no release date set for Favreau’s “The Lion King” live-action movie.
