Shadow and Act has an exclusive clip from the ABC docuseries Let The World See.

The series, which serves as a companion to the ABC scripted limited series Women of the Movement, “is a fresh and deep examination of Ms. Mamie Till-Mobley’s fight to bring her son’s body home to Chicago and her pivotal yet heartbreaking decision to have an open-casket funeral for the public to see, which ultimately served as a turning point for the civil rights movement. The docuseries also traces Ms. Mamie Till-Mobley’s journey back to the Jim Crow South to face her son’s murderers in court. The program will illustrate how the Till family has continued her legacy since her death in 2003, remaining active in the movement as the deaths of Trayvon Martin, George Floyd, Ms. Breonna Taylor and others sparked protests around the country.”

According to the official description:

With actress and producer Nia Long portraying Ms. Mamie Till-Mobley’s voice, the first installment of the series begins with an examination of Ms. Mamie Till-Mobley’s early life, Emmett Till’s childhood, the fate of his father and the events that led to Emmett Till’s murder in Mississippi in the summer of 1955. Ms. Mamie Till- Mobley and Emmett Till’s cousins Rev. Wheeler Parker, who was a witness to his abduction, as well as Ms. Thelma Wright, Ms. Ollie Gordon and Amos Smith add context and a deeper explanation to the racial climate and chain of events that led Ms. Mamie Till-Mobley to make the heartbreaking decision to have an open-casket funeral for the world to see what happened to her son.

Women of the Movement stars Adrienne Warren on-screen as Till-Mobley as she fights for justice for her son, who was killed by a racist mob in Mississippi. Her son’s death galvanized the civil rights movement of the 1950s, leading into the 1960s.

The docuseries premieres Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. on ABC, following a 2-hour Women of the Movement at 8 p.m.
