Families are sharing stories of togetherness in Ava DuVernay‘s new unscripted show Home Sweet Home. An exclusive clip is below.

The clip features The Price and Featherstone families discuss history, with Keith Price talking about the history of the Black Cowboys. According to the official description:

EP 104: Two Black families from opposite ends of L.A. find kinship that crosses economic boundaries when the urban cowboy Featherstone family swaps South Central for the San Fernando Valley home of the Price family.

The episode airs on NBC Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

Each episode of Home Sweet Home follows two families as they share their experiences and backgrounds with each other. According to the official description:

Created by Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated executive producer Ava DuVernay, each episode of “Home Sweet Home” follows two families who lead different backgrounds for a life-changing experience. These families will learn what it is like to walk a mile in another person’s shoes, challenging racial, religious, economic, geographic, gender and identity assumptions as they exchange homes for a week and experience the lives of those unlike them. At the end of each hour long episode, the two families reunite to share their eye-opening experiences.

DuVernay also shared a personal letter about why she created Home Sweet Home.

I am not much of a “reality” television viewer, if I can be honest with you. Let’s just say, it’s not really been my cup of tea.

Then the pandemic hit. And I found myself walking through my neighborhood wondering how my neighbors live. What is their routine? What’s in their refrigerator? What are their beliefs? Cut to me pitching a show to NBC, filming during the pandemic and now, it’s coming to your television set October 15. A show that we tried to make with no second takes, no do-overs, no confessional closets, less seams. A docuseries that sets families on a journey of self-discovery and observes while they explore living life in another family’s shoes.

With “Home Sweet Home,” my hope is that audiences will find perspective and appreciation for not only the 18 families featured, but with their neighbors in real life. It’s a reality show that I’ve loved making and truly love watching. I hope you do too.
