In the third exit of a white voice actor from the role of a Black character this week, Family Guy’s Mike Henry will no longer play Cleveland Brown.
Cleveland is a character on the long-running animated series and was also the subject of a spin-off, The Cleveland Show, which ran from 2009-2013 on Fox.
Henry announced the news on Twitter, stating, “It’s been an honor to play Cleveland on Family Guy for 20 years. I love this character, but persons of color should play characters of color. Therefore, I will be stepping down from the role.”
