One of the most well-reviewed and oddest films released this year is no doubt “Swiss Army Man,” written and directed jointly by the filmmaking duo of Dan Kwan and Dan Scheinert, who previously had only made several short films together.

In the film, Paul Dano plays a guy stranded on a deserted island who comes across a dead body washed up on the shore, played by “Harry Potter’s” Daniel Radcliffe, that Dano befriends only to discover that Radcliffe, though dead, has a whole bunch of supernatural powers which Dano’s character uses to make his way back home.

But if that isn’t weird enough, what Kwan and Scheinert have planned as a future project may be even weirder.

In an recent interview in The Hollywood Reporter, the pair revealed that their dream film project is to do a serious, hard R-rated remake of the Wayans brothers’ 2004 comedy “White Chicks.”

I’m sure you have struggled over the past decade to try to forget that film, but, in case you have forgotten, the movie follows Marlon and Shawn Wayans playing two disgraced FBI agents who go undercover as two creepy looking white women in an attempt to foil a kidnapping plot against two hotel heiresses. Despite the fact that it was a movie that you probably wouldn’t want to be anywhere near, “White Chicks” was box office hit that year.

But Kwan and Scheinert see something deeper in the film. According to Scheinert, in the interview: “One of my dreams is to make ‘White Chicks’ as a hard-R, Oscar-worthy drama, starring the original cast. It would be about gender and race relations in the 21st century, starring the Wayans brothers. I don’t know if you have seen ‘White Chicks’ lately, but it has a lot of meat to it and explores everything, like class, gender, race, the handicapped, age.”

Although Kwan is careful to add: “But it explores [those themes] in the worst way possible.”

Now you can go ahead and laugh at their idea if you want to, but, in this day of seemingly endless remakes, sequels and reboots, anything is possible. In fact, according to Marlon Wayans, a “White Chicks” sequel is very possible, as he has claimed that audiences have been asking for one, for some time. Really?

As he said in a TV interview last year: “That’s the one movie I would love — we all collectively would love — to do a sequel for; and that’s the one movie, whenever I’m on social media… when ‘White Chicks’ is on [TV], it’s trending. They want to see a ‘White Chicks’ sequel.”

So don’t laugh. It just might happen – whether it’s Wayans’ vision or the more serious version that Kwan and Scheinert have in mind.

Needless I won’t be lining up to see any “White Chicks” sequel, or R-rated dramatic reboot. Would you?
