First Wives Club has been renewed for Season 2 at BET’s streaming service, BET+.
While an official announcement from the network has not come down yet and the network declined to comment for this story, sources close to the situation have told Shadow And Act that the series has in fact been renewed.
From Girls Trip writer Tracy Y. Oliver, it stars Michelle Buteau, Ryan Michelle Bathe and Jill Scott as the three central women. RonReaco Lee, Malik Yoba and Mark Tallman also star.
The project is a TV series reboot of the 1996 movie, which starred Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton. The film itself is an adaptation of the 1992 novel of the same name. The series follows “Ari (Bathe), Bree (Buteau) and Hazel (Scott) who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in their sisterhood– and of course a little revenge.”
Oliver’s First Wives Club was initially at TV Land but was redeveloped for Paramount Network. The series was then moved to BET, and now BET+.
