Gabrielle Union’s next project is a “pulpy” soap opera thriller with Amazon revolving around two “brilliant –and very different–Black women.”
According to Variety, Union will star in Pretty Little Wife, adapted from the Darby Kane novel of the same name. The series is described as “a cat-and-mouse thriller with a pulpy edge and some sexy soap that centers around two brilliant –and very different–Black women: Lily (Union), the pretty little wife suspected of murdering her husband, and Ginny, the detective on the case. Upon entering each other’s lives, they begin to crack open each other’s façade to reveal what really lies beneath.”
Union will also executive produce through her production company I’ll Have Another Productions. Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin will also executive produce and co-write the series. Kristen SaBerre will also executive produce with A+E Studios’ Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson and Range Media Partners. Amazon Studios will produce with A+E Studios.
Union can currently be seen on the third season of Truth Be Told on Apple TV+. She has also set a two-part documentary special, My Journey To 50 at BET+ and is starring in the upcoming romantic Netflix film The Perfect Find. She stars alongside Keith Powers as a woman who falls in love with a younger man (and her boss’s son).
