Hulu has announced a series order for an upcoming boxing series, La Máquina, starring and produced by Gael García Bernal And Diego Luna.

Searchlight Television is the studio for the Spanish-language limited series. Marco Ramirez has been set as the showrunner. Gabriel Ripstein will serve as the director with Gerardo Gatica, Leandro Halperin and Adam Fishbach on board as producers.

García Bernal aand Luna are producing under their La Corriente del Golfo banner.

The logline: La Máquina follows an aging boxer (Gael García Bernal) whose crafty manager (Diego Luna) secures him one last shot at a title. But to make it to fight night, they must navigate a mysterious underworld force.

Gael, Diego and Marco are world class storytellers and we look forward to bringing audiences their story and experiencing alongside them this last shot their characters get together,” said Craig Erwich, President, Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment.

Searchlight Television is a recently-launched part of Searchlight Pictures. It develops and produces series for streaming, network, and cable partners.  Its first production was The Dropout, which it did with 20th Television.
