Hulu has pulled a switcheroo for its upcoming Four Weddings and a Funeral series from Mindy Kaling.

Jessica Williams was initially cast as the series lead, but due to unknown reasons, the lead role has been recast with Nathalie Emmanuel.

Emmanuel is known to most audiences from her role as Missandei in Game of Thrones. She first gained fame as Sasha Valentine in the British soap opera Hollyoaks and has also starred in The Maze Runner film franchise.

Due to the recast, the lead character, initially called Jess, has been redeveloped as a new character, Maya.

Additionally, Brandon Mychal Smith has also joined the series as a lead, along with Zoe Boyle, Jennie Jacques, Harish Patel and Guz Khan. The quintet joins the previously cast Nikesh Patel, Rebecca Rittenhouse and John Reynolds. Andie McDowell, who starred in the original film, will guest star.

In the remake inspired by the 1994 film of the same name, when Maya gets a wedding invitation from a college friend who is now in London, she and old friends drop everything to go to London. But, as the description states, “relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and, of course, there are four weddings and a funeral.”

The series is expected in 2019.
