Black Hollywood walked the blue carpet celebrating Disney’s premiere of The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey. The celebrity guest list included Offset with his daughters, Kalea and Kulture. Tia Mowry and her daughter Cairo Hardict attended, with Tamera and her daughter Ariah Housley—Kyla Pratt with her daughters, and so many more joined in. The blue carpet wasn’t complete until the lady of the sea arrived; Bailey slayed in a beautiful Valdrin Sahiti dress.

Bailey took the night in her jaw-dropping metallic silver-blue strapless gown. The dress embodied a mermaid silhouette, with the dress’s bodice emulating a seashell or ripple-like movement of waves. Bailey’s gown demonstrates art — the dress’s hemline mimics a mermaid tale. She accessorized with statement earrings, silver rings, and blue and silver nails designed with water bubbles and pearls. Bailey completed her stunning mermaid look with blue eye shadow and long auburn locs.

“It means the world to me, especially for the beautiful babies to be able to see a reflection of themselves,” she told Hollywoodlife. “I am just honored to be a part of this and be one of the princesses now because, for me, it was Brandi as Cinderella and then Anika Rose as Princess Tiana. So the fact that I am getting to continue this and live on this legacy is really exciting, and I’m just grateful.”
“I want the little girl in me and the little girls just like me who are watching to know that they’re special and that they should be a princess in every single way,” she added. “There’s no reason that they shouldn’t be. That reassurance was something that I needed.”
The long-awaited film will release in theaters on May 26.
