Did you know Donald Glover was close to having another Spider-Man cameo?
The news was revealed in an interview with Spider-Man: Far From Home screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers had with The Hollywood Reporter. The two said how Glover’s Spider-Man: Homecoming character, Aaron Davis, was also meant to show up in the sequel, but the plan got cut due to time.
“We went down that road a little bit, then the movie spent such little time in Queens and gets to Europe pretty quickly. Some ideas you just have to give up,” said McKenna.
“We loved that character and we wanted to do it, but we just wanted to get out of New York and get on the trip as soon as possible,” Sommers added. “There were several things we would have loved to do in New York before he left, but we just didn’t have time.”
Understandable, but Marvel fans probably want to know if Davis’ other connection to the Spider-Man universe will be revealed. As many fans already know, Davis doesn’t just become the Prowler, one of the villains in Spider-Man’s rogue gallery. He is the uncle of Miles Morales, the current Spider-Man in Marvel Comics. Could Davis’ bridge to Morales finally be explored, thereby fully bringing Morales into the MCU? We can only hope.
But for right now, we can be content with seeing J.B. Smoove and Zendaya on the big screen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is in theaters now.
