The family of TikTok star Matima “Swavy” Miller is responding to Wendy Williams’ segment on his death.
Swavy was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman in Wilmington, Delaware on July 5. The TikTok star was known on the social media platform for his skits and popular dance moves.
In the wake of his death, talk show host Wendy Williams covered Swavy’s death during her Hot Topics segment and proceeded to cover his death in what many perceived to be an insensitive and joking manner.

Following Williams’ controversial segment, Sway’s mother responded to the talk show host’s remarks in an interview with CBS Philly, deeming it “disrespectful.”
“Y’all, like as a mother, Wendy Williams, how dare you? So disrespectful,” Sway’s mother Chanelle Clark, told CBS 3 Philly. “I used to watch you as a child and even though you have a gossip show and all that, you didn’t even know my son.”
Swavy’s older brother, Rahkim Clark, also spoke out against Williams comments in an interview with TMZ.
Wendy has always been a messy person,” Clark told TMZ. “That’s what her life consists of, this gossip and reporting stories but this is not just any other story. This is not a highlight. This is not a hot topic, this is our real-life. Like, we’re dealing with this in reality so for her to speak on the events surrounding my brother’s death before she reached out to our family, she didn’t send condolences, she didn’t even report the right story.”
As we reported last week, during Hot Topics, Williams comparing the TikTok star’s fame to hers, leading the audience to laugh, as reported by HITC. She poked more fun at Swavy’s supposed irrelevance to her before announcing to a shocked audience that the media personality was killed Monday.
“I have no idea who this is,” she says, before asking her audience to clap if they know to Swavy is.
“He’s a Tik Tok star. He’s got more followers than me,” she continues. “2.5 million.”
“On Tik Tok, but on Instagram you have more followers,” said producer Norman Baker, leading the audience to clap.
“Well, as my son Kevin would say, no one uses Instagram anymore,” said Williams. “And as far as TikTok, I don’t use that, at all. I don’t know what that is, I don’t want to be involved.”
It was only after looking Swavy’s picture up and down that she finally announced to the audience he was murdered.
