Freeform will air a second Marvel series.
After the network’s original, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, it will air another Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Marvel’s Runaways, for its brodcast debut.
The pilot episode of Runaways will air after the season finale of Cloak & Dagger, Deadline has confirmed.
This is as of now, a one-time run as a part of a marketing push between Hulu and Freeform.
The news also comes as Disney and 21st Century Fox’s shareholders have approved their merger. Disney, which already has a stake in Hulu, will take another 30 percent.
The show is based on the Marvel comic book series of the same name. It is the story of six diverse teenagers and former friends who can barely stand each other. Upon reunion, they find out they have superpowers and must unite against a common foe – their parents.
It stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta as the teens, and Annie Wersching, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Kevin Weisman, Brigid Brannah, James Yaegashi, Brittany Ishibashi, Kip Pardue and Julian McMahon as their parents.
Marvel’s Runaways is executive produced by series showrunners/writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage along with Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski will produce as well. Marvel’s Runaways is a co-production with ABC Signature Studios.
