If there is one rapper on the rise to keep on your radar, it’s Ice Spice. It has been less than a year since the Bronx native has gone viral with her track “Munch,” yet she has collaborated with some of the industry’s top fashion brands and music artists.
Music executive Shawn Barron shared that the rapper is featured on Taylor Swift’s next single during an appearance on the One More Time Podcast.
“She has an accumulation of moments in a short amount of time, and we’re seeing the response,” he said about Ice Spice’s popularity.
“I heard that she’s on Taylor Swift’s next single or something like that,” he added.
Barron currently serves as the president of EZMNY Records, a label founded by Ty Dolla $ign. He previously held positions at Atlantic Records and Motown Records.
Neither Ice Spice nor Taylor Swift has confirmed the rumor.
The 23-year-old rapper has expressed her love for Swift’s music. She told Nylon her go-to breakup song is the 2012 hit “We Are Never Getting Back Together.” Ice Spice recently presented Swift with an award for song of the year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards for “Anti-Hero.”
If the rumor of their collaboration is confirmed, it would further cement Ice Spice’s status as one of the top rappers in the music industry.
The “Munch” rapper has gone viral beyond social media, with three of her songs featured on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her popular collaboration with PinkPantheress, “Boys a Liar Pt. 2,” received much acclaim, as well as her singles “In Ha Mood” and “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj.
This wouldn’t be Swift’s first time collaborating with a rapper. Tracks such as “Bad Blood” with Kendrick Lamar (2015) and “End Game” with Future (2017) have been popular collaborations among fans.
