Ice Spice has made her way into the mainstream and has had help from some of the music industry’s top artists. The Bronx rapper says she has been on good terms with Drake, who she often turns to for advice.

“We talk all the time, and we’re always just laughing about some things that go on,” she said in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “I’ll ask him, ‘What should I do with this? Or how’d you go about this? Or did you ever experience that?'”

Ice Spice says his advice has come in handy more than once when dealing with specific situations in her career.

“I’m not going to give real examples, but he’ll tell me, ‘I did this, and you should do that, too, because you can.’ And I’ll be like, ‘You’re right. Period. I’m going to do that.’ It’s like coach vibes,” she said.

Last year, fan-made rumors started circulating that Drake was trying to make a move on Ice Spice. They were seen spending time together at OVO Fest, and fans began making assumptions after the Canadian rapper unfollowed Ice Spice on Instagram, according to Complex.

“When Drake DM’d me, I did not really expect that,” the “In Ha Mood” rapper told Rap Caviar last September. “I had just landed in L.A. for my Genius Open Mic for ‘Munch.'”

“Linking up with him was so cool. Like, he’s mad nice and respectful,” she added. “So [OVO Fest] was just a movie, everybody was excited. The energy was high. Nicki [Minaj] performed, it was lit. [Lil] Wayne did his thing. That shit was crazy.”

Ice Spice also pointed to fellow New York rapper Nicki Minaj as one of her mentors. The duo collaborated on two popular tracks, the viral remix to “Princess Diana,” as well as the track “Barbie World” featured in the Barbie movie’s official soundtrack.

“I feel like I am absorbing advice from [Nicki] and learning from her and stuff. And she’ll tell me, ‘Learn from my mistakes.’ And I just really pay attention to what she’s saying. Because if there’s anyone I’m going to listen to, it’s the queen,” Ice Spice said.
