The IFC channel has launched a new original digital series titled “Frank & Lamar,” which premiered yesterday on the network’s online hub for original, short-form comedy, Comedy Crib (ifc.com/comedy-crib). The show joins the Crib’s current array of acclaimed web series including “Quirks,” “The Mirror,” and “Boxed In.”
Created by and starring Carl Foreman Jr. and Anthony Gaskins, “Frank & Lamar” follows two best friends who live together and also work together as middle school teachers in New York City. When workplace drama and romance issues turn their world upside down, they are forced to decide whether to stick together or go at it alone.
“Frank & Lamar” is produced by Gray Hour Media and directed by Fred Soligan.
In addition to “Frank & Lamar,” Carl Foreman Jr. has appeared in online sketches for CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, Above Average, MTV, Official Comedy and UCB Comedy. Carl also performs and does sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade.
Anthony Gaskins can be seen on Netflix in “The Jerk Theory” and in the film “Crazy Beats Strong Every Time,” an Official Selection of Sundance Film Festival. He has appeared on stage at the New York Theater Workshop, Urban Stages, HERE Arts Center, American Repertory Theater and Mint Theater.
No word on whether “Frank & Lamar” may eventually make its way to IFC’s television lineup; these digital hubs could doubly serve as essentially testing grounds for content.
