Jennifer Hudson has been tapped to star in an upcoming film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Cats.
The film is set up at Working Title and Universal and Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden and Ian McKellan are confirmed.
Tom Hooper is the director, and Lee Hall is adapting the script from the musical.
It will begin producing in the UK this fall, and other cast members will be announced soon.
Hooper directed the recent Les Miserables film adaptation, which was successful at Working Title and Universal.
The musical tells the story of a cat tribe called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as “the Jellicle choice” and decide which of them will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.
