Jesse L. Martin is set to headline in NBC’s upcoming drama The Irrational, which has been given a series order by the network.
Shadow and Act has learned that the series stars Martin as Alec Baker, a behavioral science professor who uses his expertise to solve some of the world’s biggest crimes. According to the official description:
Alec Baker, a world-renowned professor of behavioral science, lends his expertise to an array of high-stakes cases involving governments, law enforcement and corporations with his unique and unexpected approach to understanding human behavior.
The series is based on the book, Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely, a James B. Duke Professor of psychology and behavioral economics at Duke University. Ariely will also serve as the series’ consultant.
Starring alongside Martin is Maahra Hill, Travina Springer, Molly Kunz and Arash DeMaxi. Director David Frankel will also serve as executive producer with Mark Goffman Samuel Baum and Arika Lisanne Mittman. Martin will also produce.
The Irrational isn’t the only NBC series Martin could return to. In February, Martin talked about the possibilities of returning to Law & Order to reprise his detective character Ed Green.
“I certainly hope so,” he said of his chances while appearing on The Talk. “There were a lot of loose ends when Ed Green left the scene, if you will. Yes, maybe.”
