Fresh after the Emmy win by newly-minted EGOT recipient John Legend for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, Legend and fellow Superstar executive producer Mike Jackson are producing Jingle Jangle, a family musical for the holidays.

Jingle Jangle sounds magical and something people of all ages will enjoy, perfect for the holiday season.

According to the film’s description: “A cobblestone world comes to life in the event holiday musical tale of an embattled toymaker, his precocious granddaughter, and a magical invention, that if they can get it to work in time for the holidays, could change their lives forever.”

The film is written and directed by David E. Talbert. Talbert, who has written popular movies like First Sunday and Baggage Claim, is made for this holiday film space since he’s already created the successful holiday comedy Almost Christmas, starring Mo’Nique, Danny Glover, Gabrielle Union, Kimberly Elise, Romany Malco, J.B. Smoove, Jessie T. Usher, Keri Hilson, Nicole Ari Parker and Omar Epps. According to the release, “Talbert’s first three features, First Sunday, Baggage Claim, and Almost Christmas all opened as America’s No. 1 Comedy.”

Talbert will produce the film with Lyn Sisson-Talbert and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Jingle Jangle will start filming in 2019 and will be released on Netflix in 2020.

Legend and Jackson’s production slate includes TV series such as Sherman’s Showcase, which is slated to air in 2019, and Famewhore, which doesn’t yet have a premiere date. Legend’s next acting moment is in the short Surefire, which is currently in pre-production.
