Netflix has just announced new additions to its upcoming, John Legend-produced holiday film, Jingle Jangle. It will be the streaming giant’s first live-action musical.
Anika Noni Rose, Keegan Michael-Key, Phylicia Rashad and newcomer Madalen Mills have joined Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker in the holiday musical, slated to premiere on Netflix in 2020.
Written and directed by David Talbert, Jingle Jangle will revolve around an embattled toymaker (Whitaker) who works alongside his precocious granddaughter (Mills) to get a magical invention that could change lives to work just in time for the holidays. Mills, who will portray the role of Journey, was cast after a global talent search.
