After last season’s record-setting premiere numbers, Starz didn’t waste anytime ordering a 3rd season of its hit drama series, “Power.”

The second season premiered on Saturday, June 6, 2015, drawing 1.427 million viewers. Not only were those numbers a series high, they were the highest ratings ever for an episode of a Starz original drama, the cable TV network said at the time.

The upcoming 3rd season will comprise of 10 episodes, and is set to premiere in July, on the 17th.

Expect to see star Omari Hardwick reprise his role as James “Ghost” St. Patrick; Naturi Naughton as Tasha St. Patrick; Lela Loren as Angela Valdes; and other key players.

From Executive Producer Curtis Jackson and show creator and Executive Producer Courtney Kemp Agboh, “Power” season 3 picks up right where season 2 left off with a little more oomph: “I really want to blow people’s minds,” saiys showrunner Kemp. “I really want to pump more octane in to season 3. More things will happen and there’s more stimuli. It’s not that you can’t have quiet moments, but I want people to have this adrenaline-fueled experience at home. We have that in movies all the time, but I want to reach in and make you have a reaction.”

I thought that season 1 (at least) and maybe even season 2 would be available to stream on Netflix by now, for those who haven’t kept up with the series, and are interested in becoming acquainted with it ahead of season 3. But neither season appears to be. I just searched Netflix’s website. Hulu isn’t carrying the series either. So you’ll have to buy each season on VOD platforms like iTunes and Amazon Video if you want to catch up. The 3-disc second season blu-ray and DVD set will be out on June 14th, so there’s that option as well.

I’ve watched the first 4 episodes of the upcoming 3rd season, and will share my thoughts during the week of the premiere on the 17th of July.

In the meantime, Starz has released a new teaser-trailer for the new season which is below.
