It seems like every celebrity is on a major weight loss journey. With the rise in Ozempic use, many wonder how their faves are shedding pounds and looking slimmer than ever.
Kandi Burruss has shown off her thinner frame on the gram and has everyone talking. She gives credit to Hydroxycut, coined as America’s No. 1 weight loss supplement thanks to its key ingredient: C. Canephora robusta. Per the website, Hydroxycut is backed by two double-blind scientific studies, and research shows that people taking the key ingredient lost twice the weight. Burruss has now reached her goal weight.
As it turns out, The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum planned to start her journey much sooner. Life got in the way, but she was determined to get on her A-game, and Hydroxycut was presented at the right time.
“My birthday is on May 17. But I didn’t actually start this journey until the end of May of this year, and I was my biggest at the time. It’s sad, too, because I was hoping I was going to lose weight before my birthday, but I was living my best life after I quit the show [RHOA],” she admitted. “I was eating good and living good. But I needed to pull it together because I knew I was going on tour with Xscape and SWV. I knew I needed to slim down, and my team had already talked to me about trying Hydroxycut. I’d tried other things, and it didn’t work. Kenya [Moore], she had did Hydroxycut through a challenge two years ago. And she really slimmed down, and she was looking really, really good. So I was like, ‘OK, well, I’m gonna try it.'”
Burruss started the initial 16-week challenge and said her expectations of the weight she’d lose weren’t high. She’d tried every diet, even Ozempic previously, which she said had adverse effects. So going into the Hydroxycut journey, she tried to remain level-headed so she wouldn’t become disappointed.
“When the Hydroxycut team first weighed me, I was 169. So, I was like, ‘OK, let’s see what can happen in this 16-17 week span of time.’ What I really was hoping was that I could one day get back into the 130 lbs. range. That’s like been my dream for the last couple of years and had not been happening,” she shared. “But I literally got down to that by the time they weighed me; I think I was like 137 pounds or something. And I was shocked because I haven’t been 130-nothing since I was 30-something!”
Along with Hydroxycut, Burruss made a major lifestyle change, but she did so over time versus quitting her guilty pleasure food and snacks all at once. She didn’t want to shock her body or her mind, and she also wanted to do so gradually because she knew she’d have better results.
Working out wasn’t necessary for the singer at the time due to her hectic tour schedule, which included nightly choreography. So, she put most of the emphasis on her diet, eventually cutting out all sugar and carbs and increasing her water intake. Midway through her journey, she found herself eating just meat and veggies for dinner. With craft services catering every night while on the road, she admitted it wasn’t always easy. But once the results started to show, she said it was worth it.
“Hydroxycut has different formulas. They have the ultra strap packs which are little small packs that I’d keep in my purse and infuse my water with them. I really love those because they have flavor to them, and during this time, I had cut out all sweets. So, I wasn’t drinking any sodas or juices. And, for me, it was a great substitute, but then it also gave me energy. So that was one option,” she expressed. “But I also used their pill form. And the great thing about Hydroxycut is you can use different formulas interchangeably; you don’t have to stick to just the powder or the pill. Each product has a label on it to explain how it works. You can mix it up to work for you.”
Burruss said by sticking to her diet and the added help of Hydroxycut, she lost between 1-2 pounds a week, sometimes more. There were some weeks where she was unhappy with the results, as with anyone on a weight loss journey, but she kept at it. She said consistency is key.
As a person who doesn’t favor the gym, Burruss opts for more unique exercise methods, such as an hour-long dance class. She suggested finding a system that works for each individual. Now that she’s lost the weight, she plans to focus more on toning by incorporating weight lifting. Again, she’s doing so at a slower pace to maintain consistent results.
With the holidays around the corner, Burruss refuses to fall off the wagon.
“I am not going to stop using Hydroxycut yet. I asked them if it is OK for me to continue to use it, and they said yes. So until I find my regular amount of exercise that keeps my weight at where I am, then I will probably stop,” she remarked. “In the meantime, I may only give myself maybe one cheat day, maybe once a week or once every other week. With Thanksgiving coming, I’m probably going to cheat a little bit, but I’m not going to go crazy. There will be no Thanksgiving leftovers for me because next summer has to see this body! I cannot waste this hard work on just the winter. I need the spring-summer to come so I can show out!”
