Millennials are winning once again, thanks to Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell announcing a new film project together.

Deadline reports that the iconic ’90s Nickelodeon duo and real life friends will star and produce Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein. Thompson will produce through his company, Artists for Artists. Range Media Pictures will also produce.

Thompson announced the film on Wednesday during the Prime Video series Good Sports. Production begins this summer.

While the name Kenan & Kel brings to mind the 1990s All That spinoff starring the two as friends who get into Lucy and Ethel-type hijinks, it’s not clear if this film will be a continuation of their television characters. Instead, the horror-comedy will star the two as delivery drivers whose mundane route becomes anything but when they stop at a spooky castle and accidentally wake up Frankenstein’s monster. The film is inspired by classic Abbott and Costello monster mash-up comedies.

Thompson and Mitchell have both discussed how they are excited to be back together once again for a new project.

Here’s what Thompson and Mitchell say about the film

“Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy and something completely unexpected,” he said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it.”

“Coming back together always feels natural, and this lets up tap into everything people love about our dynamic while trying something totally new,” Mitchell added. “It’s funny, it’s scarry, and it’s a great ride.”

Jonah Feingold is writing the script, but no director seems to be attached yet. However, the production team is fully on board, with John Ryan Jr., Carter Swan and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones producing with Thompson. Executive producers include Will Hariton, Monica Weber and Azim Spicer.

The two recently working together on ‘Good Burger 2’

Thompson and Mitchell, best known for All That and Kenan & Kel, have been banking on their millennial base in recent years, teaming together to create Good Burger 2 in 2023. A few years prior, the duo also helped usher in a new All That, featuring a new crop of young comedy stars. By himself, Thompson has also made history as the longest-running cast member on Saturday Night Live.
