Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes are exploring brotherhood in a new Netflix limited series.
According to Variety, Hart and Snipes will play brothers in True Story, which is a fictional story despite its title. The series will bring Hart back in the world of the dramatic; his last dramatic role was opposite Bryan Cranston in The Upside.
Hart will produce via HartBeat Productions alongside Tiffany Brown, Mike Stein, Charles Murray, and Grand Electric’s Caroline Currier. Stephen Williams will direct and executive produce the first four episodes, with Hanelle Culpepper taking the reins on the last four. The series is written and executive produced by Narcos franchise executive producer Eric Newman.
“I’ve never been more excited about an acting project in my career,” said Hart in a statement. “I’ve always been a fan of Wesley Snipes and working with him is mind-blowing.” He also added that producing via his production company alongside Newman “has been unreal, nobody is ready for what this show is going to be.”
Newman also released a statement, praising Hart for defining his career “by courageous creative risks.” With Wesley’s “legendary talent,” Newman said the two actors “are truly a dream team.”
“I am absolutely thrilled to be working with these two,” he continued. “As always I am grateful to Netflix for their continued support, as well as to Charles Murray, Stephen Williams and Hanelle Culpepper for their creative partnership.”
No word on when the series is set to debut on Netflix.
