Kevin Hart will flex his producer muscles on a new Universal action-comedy titled “Run the Jewels,” from writers Alex Blagg and Neel Shah.

Via his Hartbeat Productions banner, the actor/comedian will produce the film which follows a group of failed rappers who attempt to rob an eccentric hip-hop mogul.

No word on whether this is based on any real-life people or stories.

Kristin Lowe will oversee the project for Universal.

As it’s still in the very early stages of development (Universal bought the pitch), no other details are available on the project at this time.

Hart can currently be seen in front of the camera in another Universal property, “Central Intelligence,” alongside Dwayne Johnson. Universal will also release “Kevin Hart: What Now?” – another stand-up comedy special from Hart – on October 14.
