The arrest occurred during a traffic stop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, just south of Kodak’s hometown.
While speaking with TMZ, law enforcement officials said the rapper driving a purple Dodge Durango, was stopped on suspicion that the vehicle’s window tint was too dark. It was also uncovered that the car’s registration had expired.
The Florida Highway Patrol officers say they smelled cannabis upon approaching the car. After searching, authorities allegedly found 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960.
As a result, Kodak Black was booked into the Broward County Jail and charged with possessing a controlled substance without a prescription, as well as trafficking oxycodone.
“Never Judge a case based on an arrest. There are always additional facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case. We will get him a bond today and move forward with resolving the matter quickly,” Kodak’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, tweeted the morning after the rapper’s arrest.
