After just missing out on a new series last year, Kyla Pratt will officially make her return to television as a series regular in Fox’s straight-to-series comedy, Call Me Kat.

Mayim Bialik toplines the multi-cam series and Swoosie Kurtz also stars. Based on the BBC series, Miranda, the show “centers around Kat (Bialik), a 39-year-old woman who struggles every day against society and her mother Sheila (Kurtz) to prove that you CANNOT have everything you want — and still be happy, which is why she spent the money her parents set aside for her wedding to open a Cat Café in Louisville, KY.”

Last pilot season, Pratt was one of the stars for Fox’s Patty’s Auto comedy pilot, which did not move forward at the network. Call Me Kat has a straight-to-series order, meaning that it is bypassing the pilot stage and gets a commitment to begin shooting its full season.

Pratt is most known for her several childhood/teen roles. She starred in the UPN series One on One, voiced Penny Proud in The Proud Family on Disney Channel and starred in the Dr. Doolittle film franchise. In recent years, she’s starred in two series, Let’s Stay Together on BET and Recovery Road on Freeform. Recently, she also starred in several television holiday films.

Deadline broke the news of Pratt’s casting.
