The 2023 BET Awards ceremony took place Sunday, and the stars hit the red carpet for the occasion. Latto posed in front of photographers ahead of her performance.

She brought summer glam to the event as she posed in a black sheer-wrapped gown with a thigh-high slit designed by MÔNOT. The 24-year-old rapper accessorized her look with a pair of black heels and layered necklaces by Neil Lane.

Latto shared behind-the-scenes of herself getting ready for awards nights. Her sister, Brooklyn Nicole, showed up to support her and posed alongside the rapper.

Latto’s beauty look — particularly her hair — was a central part of her evening looks. The rapper sported her signature blond locks as she performed “Put It On Da Floor” on stage and accepted an award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist later in the evening.

“We knew we wanted to have a big hair moment, something with lots of volume for the red carpet,” Ashanti Lation, her hairstylist, told Us Weekly about her look. “I wanted a look that matched her ‘Big Latto’ persona, that brought big energy to the stage and represented her big nomination that turned into a big win.”

Lation first washed Latto’s natural hair with SheaMoisture’s Aloe Butter Scalp Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, leaving her strands “super soft and manageable.” She then added in extensions “to create extra volume” and used styled Latto’s hair in bouncy waves. To do so, Lation used a styling tool that has been going viral on TikTok. She used the Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler with a 1.2-inch attachment to put “minimal heat” on Latto’s strands.

To set her hair, Lation then applied the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Hydrating Wrap & Set Mousse. The hairstylist completed the look by using the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Edge Gel to “lay and secure Latto’s exposed edges.”
