In the upcoming episode of Lifetime’s Leave it to Geege, a conversation about race and the police brings stark realities to light.

The reality series follows Geege Taylor, a woman from Atlanta who has faced breast cancer and endured divorce twice before becoming an advocate for people on the autism spectrum. The series takes a look at how important it is to educate others on the realities of autism and how Geege helps others navigate raising a child with autism. Geege’s able to speak at length on this topic because she is a mother to a child on the spectrum herself–her non-verbal 19-year-old son Pootie.

In the exclusive clip below, Geege’s close friend Kim and her son Nicky, who is also on the autism spectrum, have a deep heart-to-heart about what to do if he finds himself in trouble. The conversation, sadly, turns to the stereotypes that he’ll be labeled with as a large Black male. Kim knows she has put off the conversation much later than she has with her other two neurotypical children because she doesn’t want to ruin how Nicky sees the world.

The series is produced by World of Wonder, the production company behind the multi-Emmy-winning series RuPaul’s Drag Race. Leave it to Geege is available on mylifetime.com, the Lifetime app and VOD.
