Columbus Short has released a behind the scenes image of himself and Ledisi in costume as Martin Luther King Jr., and Mahalia Jackson for the film, Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story.
Short posted the image on Instagram, simply writing “Martin & Mahalia” as the caption.

As we reported in January, the biopic will focus on Jackson’s life between 1956 and 1963, during the height of King and Jackson’s friendship and her support of King’s civil rights leadership. Jackson’s importance to the movement includes encouraging King to say his now-famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
This is one of several Jackson biopics in the works. Lifetime’s biopic, The Mahalia Jackson Story, is currently in production and stars Danielle Brooks. There is also a separate Jackson feature film in the works called Mahalia!. This biopic stars Jill Scott as Jackson and is produced by Queen Latifah and Jamie Foxx.
