Lee Daniels finds out some “fabulous” news about his family tree in the upcoming episode of PBS’ Finding Your Roots, airing Tuesday, Jan. 4.
In the exclusive clip below, Daniels learns that his maternal grandmother’s side of the family were registered on the 1850 Philadelphia census. The reason why leads to a funny reaction from Daniels, who realizes why that side of the family always seemed “uppity.”
Finding Your Roots, hosted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., gives celebrities an in-depth look at the people who made them who they are today. The new season starts with Daniels’ episode Tuesday.
