Lena Waithe continues to make clear her intention to bring new voices to the forefront.

In an exclusive from Deadline, the Emmy Award-winning screenwriter and actress will partner with ATTN: for a scripted series set to premiere in early 2020.

Titled Girls Room, it will be an anthology series by written by Waithe that will explore the complexities of female adolescence from the perspective of girls. Girls Room will be developed as part of Dove’s Self-Esteem Project for young women.

“I’ve admired Dove and its mission to educate young women through their Self-Esteem Project for a long time,” Waithe said in a statement. “Crafting a story that’s purposeful and relevant to our shared values was exciting to me on a deeply personal level. I want girls to watch this show and feel like they’re not alone.”

Girls Room is just the latest in a long list of projects for Waithe. Among the litany of Waithe’s projects include her Showtime drama, The Chi, which was recently renewed for a third season and her acclaimed BET drama Boomerang which just received a second season.

Waithe is also the lead mentor for the AT&T 2019 Filmmaker Mentorship Program. Under the program, Waithe will hand-select five emerging screenwriters and offer them the chance to have their short films fully financed and produced by AT&T. Those eager to get a chance to showcase their talents to Waithe better hurry up. Submission for AT&T’s 2019 Filmmaker Mentorship Program ends on May 22, 2019.
