Letitia Wright has been hospitalized after sustaining an injury during the filming of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Deadline reports that Wright sustained minor injuries from an incident with a stunt rig during an overnight shoot in Boston. Sources close to filming say that Wright’s injuries will not affect the film’s shooting schedule.

Marvel released a statement about Wright’s injuries, reiterating what sources have said.

“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” the spokesperson said. “She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.

Wright is reprising her character from the first Black Panther film Shuri, T’Challa’s highly intelligent sister and designer of Wakanda’s tech, as well as serving as the princess of the fictional African nation. The film is said to be a tribute to the legacy of Chadwick Boseman, who died in 2020 at the age of 43 from colon cancer.

Wright shared her feelings about Boseman in October of last year.

“We’re just still mourning Chad, so it’s not something I even want to think about,” she said to Porter Magazine, calling Boseman “my brother.”

“The thought of doing [Black Panther] without him is kinda strange,” she said. She also added how she was still “grieving at the moment and is still trying to find the light in the midst of it.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to debut July 8, 2022.
