Surviving R. Kelly is getting a follow-up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lifetime has ordered a two-hour special, Surviving R. Kelly: The Impact, which will be hosted by Soledad O’Brien and will air May 4. The special will take a look at how dream hampton’s three-part documentary series has changed pop culture and society regarding how we think and speak about sexual assault and abuse.
Along with O’Brien, the special will include commentary from psychologists, journalists, and legal experts as well as clips from the original Surviving R. Kelly series. The special will also take an “in-depth look” at the now-infamous CBS interview Gayle King conducted with Kelly.
Since the docuseries aired, Kelly has been arrested (currently out on bail) and indicted on 10 felony counts of aggravated sexual abuse against four people, three of them minors, the article states. Record company RCA also officially dropped Kelly when calls to the company intensified after the docuseries aired.
