Kevin Hart is flexing his dramatic chops at 40,000 feet in the upcoming Netflix heist film, Lift. The film also stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw along with a multicultural cast, with F. Gary Gray directing. The film comes to the streaming service Jan. 12.
Lift aims to give audiences tons of excitement and drama as Hart‘s character, the leader of an international heist crew, “race to life $500 million in gold from a passenger plane at 40,000 feet,” according to the logline.
Netflix debuted the film’s trailer during the Nov. 5 FOX Sports America’s Game of the Week featuring the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. The Philadelphia Eagles mascot, Swoop, also initiated the global launch of the film with a heist of his own by taking the trailer from the Netflix offices.
Gray directs from a script by Daniel Kunka. Along with Hart and Mbatha-Raw, the film stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Jacob Batalon, Billy Magnussen, Jean Reno, Sam Worthington, Viveik Kalra, Yun Jee Kim, Burn Gorman and Paul Anderson.
Hart and Bryan Smiley produce via Hartbeat, with Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Kinberg Genre Films, and Matt Reeves and Adam Kassan for 6th & Idaho Motion Picture Company. Gray, Brend O’Connor and Patricia Braga executive produce.
