After the film has been on a heavy festival run, including its premiere at Sundance and a stop at SXSW, the first clip from Little Monsters has been released before its bow at the 2019 Melbourne International Film Festival.

After its Sundance debut, the film, which stars Lupita Nyong’o, Alexander England and Josh Gad, was acquired by NEON in a partnership with Hulu.

Although we don’t have a trailer yet, this clip should appease your appetite.

England plays a musician Dave, who crushes on the teacher on his nephew’s school trip named Miss Caroline (Nyong’o). However, acting on those feelings is compromised by a personality from a kids show named Teddy McGiggle (Gad), who also likes Miss Caroline. In the midst of this, there is a zombie outbreak and Dave and Miss Caroline must protect the kids.

Our Sundance review of the film reads: “An ode to Kindergarten teachers and everyone else who works tirelessly to protect children and keep them safe, Forsythe has managed to construct a film that will leave you shaking with laughter and weeping with joy. Managing neither to skip out on the witty brilliance of little kids, nor the absolute terror of a zombie invasion, Little Monsters is a brilliant contrast between the grotesque and the magical, which in many ways is precisely what a room full of kindergarteners is.”

The film is due in theaters (and on Hulu) this year, but no specific timing is known as of yet.
