Wunmi Mosaku is one of the biggest stars in the industry. From Lovecraft Country to His House, and now, Marvel Studios’ Loki — the actress is delivering acclaimed performance after acclaimed performance.

The actress says that she was pulled into Marvel after Ryan Coogler’s Oscar-nominated Black Panther. “I was a fan from Black Panther,” she told Shadow and Act in a recent interview. “That was my first Marvel film and I loved it. I felt so seen. I felt so excited and I really felt this whole hero and villain [thing]…it wasn’t so clear. It wasn’t basic. I really got Killmonger, I got him! [laughs] I was rooting for him too as well. Then I was just like, I like this world….I like this world.'”

Prior to this, Mosaku actually though the superhero world thing may not be for her.

“I did not know I was going to like this world, I did not know this world was for me,” the actress explained.” Then I started watching The Avengers and I started watching everything. My sister was a huge fan beforehand. She was always telling me to watch it and I thought, ‘Mm-mm’ [laughs]. Then I was like, ‘Oh, I get you now, I get you now!’

As for all of her roles that have made her one of the most sought after talents in Hollywood at the moment, Mosaku says there is one thing that they all share.

“I think it’s just all about the journey of the character,” she added. “It’s all about where they start and where they end and how they get there. I’ve always said, all I care about is a good story and I don’t care who I play in a good story. I do really think that the best stories all the characters have a journey. I feel that’s the thing that now I want to make sure that is [at the forefront] of every role I take is that the journey is intercut and fully rounded. I feel that’s the case in this for sure, in His House and Lovecraft Country. I feel like the journey of the character is rich.”
