BET+ has premiered the official trailer for its two-part film Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy, starring Taye Diggs, Keesha Sharp, Apryl Jones, Yung Joc, Karlie Redd, Yandy Smith and more.
Based on the book Redbone: Money, Malice and Murder in Atlanta by Ron Stodghill, the film stars Taye Diggs as Lance Herndon, the Atlanta multimillionaire businessman who was one of the most renowned and key figures in the 1990s Atlanta scene better known as the golden era for the Black elite in Atlanta.
Mona Scott-Young executive produces the two-part film alongside Eric Tomosunas.
“When Lance, a successful Atlanta businessman renowned in equal measure for both revolutionizing the city’s 911 system and his womanizing ways, is found murdered in his own home, questions and allegations abound as to who might have wanted him dead,” the synopsis reads. “An investigation into the murder is launched which reveals the truths and suspicions behind Lance’s professional and personal life. Was it a business rival, threatened by Lance’s bid for a big contract? Was it a scorned lover jealous of the place occupied in Lance’s bed?”
The film also stars Ciera Payton, Nicole Lyn, Ernestine Johnson, Ty White and Anton Peeples.
Written by Gregory R. Anderson and directed by Jaira Thomas, Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy Part 1 will premiere on September 21. Part 2 will premiere a week on September 28.
