After several months of not hearing anything about the fate of Lovecraft Country at HBO, it appears HBO is still invested in Misha Green’s pulp-fiction take on racism and social justice.
According to Deadline, HBO’s Casey Bloys is “very hopeful” about the show’s chances at a second season. He told Deadline Green and her team of writers are working to create a pitch for where the story can go next.
“Misha is working with a small team of writers and they’re coming up with a take,” he said. “She had a book to go on in the first season, she and the writers wanted to go off and take some time to go out and figure out without a book with these characters, what’s the journey we want to go on.”
“We all want to be sure she’s got a story to tell,” he continued. “That’s where she is right now, working on those ideas. I’m very hopeful, as is Misha, so we’re giving them to work.”
The first season of the show is streaming on HBO Max.
