Malcolm-Jamal Warner tries to keep a police stop from spinning out of control in the upcoming episode of The Resident.
In the exclusive clip below from the episode, “Now What,” Warner’s character, Dr. AJ Austin and Trevor (Miles Fowler) are pulled over, seemingly because of a dysfunctional tail light. As Trevor starts expressing his frustration at being a Black man targeted by police, things quickly go awry.
The scene is, of course, one of the many ways entertainment is trying to meet the moment regarding police brutality. The scene is sure to arouse high emotions and memories of the past year, which saw nationwide and global protests after the murders of Black people, most notably George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Tony McDade, made international news. As to how the rest of the episode plays out, you will have to see for yourself when The Resident airs Tuesday at 8 p.m./7 p.m. CT.
The Resident is a hospital drama that dramatizes some of the real-life situations that go on behind hospital doors.
According to Fox:
“THE RESIDENT continues to rip back the curtain and reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. The provocative medical drama follows a group of doctors at Chastain Memorial Hospital, as they face personal and professional challenges on a daily basis.”
Along with Warner, the series also stars Morris Chestnut, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Matt Czuchry, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, and Jane Leeves.
