Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is a dangerous man on a mission in the new trailer for Netflix’s Man on Fire series adaptation.

The trailer shows Abdul-Mateen II as John Creasy, a former elite mercenary who is now trying to redeem himself. But his special skills still come in handy on his path toward redemption.

It is based on the book of the same name, which was also adapted into the 2004 Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning film.

Here’s more about the series from Netflix:

Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, Man on Fire tells the story of John Creasy. Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.

The trailer definitely gives action fans more than enough of what they want. But also, because of Abdul-Mateen’s acting skill, you know that there will be an emotional heart at the center of the story.

Along with Abdul-Mateen, the series also stars Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy and Paul Ben-Victor.

Kyle Killen serves as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Other executive producers include Abdul-Mateen II, Steven Caple Jr., who directs the first two episodes, RedRum’s Stacy Perskie, New Regency Productions’ Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann, Scott Pennington from Killen’s Chapter Eleven, Ed McDonnell and Michael Polaire.
