To the chagrin of some of you, Common continues to enjoy a thriving acting career; the man’s constantly working!
Including significant roles in recent years, in films like “Smokin’ Aces,” “Street Kings,” “American Gangster,” “Wanted,” “Terminator Salvation,” “Just Wright,” “Barbershop: The Next Cut,” and most recently “John Wick: Chapter 2” (just to name a few), he also co-starred on the AMC western television series “Hell on Wheels.”
The rapper/actor has now signed up to play what may be his most significant role yet as an action-hero/leading man in a new revenge thriller titled “Quick Draw,” which will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Content Media.
Harris Goldberg wrote the script and will direct “Quick Draw,” whose Los Angeles-set story is being kept underwraps for now; although the press statement describes states it will include “hyper-intense shootouts,” “choreographed car chases,” and “hand-to-hand combat.”
Sounds a bit like “John Wick” doesn’t it? As noted above, he appeared in the second chapter released earlier this year.
Principal photography on “Quick Draw” is set to begin in the summer.
Up next for Common, he co-stars in the biopic “Megan Leavey,” which is based on the true events about young female Marine Megan Leavey and stars Kate Mara; he’s also booked for “Hunter Killer” – an action thriller based on the 2012 novel “Firing Point” by Don Keith & George Wallace. The film also stars Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman.
