More big news for Melina Matsoukas. After it was just announced she’d direct the adaptation of A Brief History of Seven Killings for Amazon, she’s lined up another project.

She’ll direct City Of Saints & Thieves for Universal. It will be produced by Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street and Will Packer’s Will Packer Productions.

According to Deadline, who reported the news first, “The story centers on the protagonist Tina, a girl who has been living on the streets of Kenya since her mother’s murder. Recruited by a gang of orphans and street kids, Tina gets closer to exacting revenge for her mother’s death, but soon discovers that she may not have all the facts.”
