Netflix has won the auction to produce Failsafe, a project based on the Vault Comics title and adapted by Black Panther co-scribe Joe Robert Cole. The project will also reteam Cole with Michael B. Jordan, who will potentially star.

As Deadline states, Failsafe was a much sought-after project due to the success of Black Panther, and bids were in the six-figure range. However, despite the potential of Jordan possibly starring in one of Failsafe‘s leading roles, it’s not certain he will actually be able to; reportedly, Jordan has set up a ton of projects through his company Outlier Society Productions, and he’s currently busy with HBO due to his role in Fahrenheit 451, so it’ll be up to him to decide if he’ll have time to star or if he’ll give the role to someone else.

In any event, Jordan will produce the project alongside Alana Mayo through Outlier Society, and F.J. Desanto of Vault Comics will also produce.

The story follows insurgent hunter John Ravane who, after a hard-fought journey which includes his daughter’s kidnapping, believes he’d killed the last nanotech-enhanced super soldier. He discovers that sleeper agents around the country still exist a decade later, and they’re now being put back in service by the same politician who instructed Ravane to kill.

Aside from Fahrenheit 451, Jordan is currently starring in Just Mercy based on the life of Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson. He’s also working on a remake of A Bittersweet Life, a starring role in Ryan Coogler’s Wrong Answer, producing black superhero family drama Raising Dion (also for Netflix) and the animated film Super Day Care, producing (and possibly starring in) a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair and producing the World War II film The Liberators and planning his directorial debut with The Stars Beneath Our Feet.
