“Good Morning America” Michael Strahan is expanding his relationship with ABC, this time entering the scripted series arena, with a drama titled “Hobbs,” which will center on a pair of Miami police officers – one of them is a former Heisman trophy winner named Tommy Hobbs, who joins the Miami police force after not being drafted by the NFL; and the other is a by-the-book detective who has trained her whole life to become a police officer.
Michael Caleo (“The Sopranos,” “Rescue Me”) will write and exec produce the drama; Strahan will also exec produce via his SMAC Entertainment shingle, with partner Constance Schwartz-Morini.
ABC doesn’t say, but Strahan’s role will likely be behind-the-scenes only.
Strahan, repped by WME, SMAC Entertainment and Ziffren Brittenham, also hosts the game-show “$100,000 Pyramid” for ABC, which was renewed for a second season. He joins other pro athletes turned media businessmen, like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant to name just two.
