Migos’ members Quavo and Offset were seen together in Atlanta, Georgia, for their late member Takeoff’s funeral proceedings, which began Nov. 11. This was the pair’s first time seen in public together since the group’s split several months ago.
As Blavity previously reported, on Nov. 1, the hip-hop community lost a pioneer in music when rapper Takeoff, from the iconic group Migos, was tragically shot and killed in Houston, Texas, at a private event. Offset and his wife Cardi B were spotted in all-black attire alongside Quavo as they got into a vehicle to attend their nephew/cousin’s memorial service, in a photo shared by PageSix.
Before the “Casper” artist passed, Quavo and Offset were at odds due to Offset leaving the group to pursue a music career as a solo artist. In addition, the father of five, Offset, filed a lawsuit against his former music label, Quality Control. In court documents seen by Variety, he claims he owns the rights to his solo music, which contributed to the strain in the band members’ relationship.
The service was not streamed and media outlets were not in attendance. Fans, family members and friends of Takeoff gathered at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta for the 28-year-old’s “Celebration of Life” service. His family requested that fans who want to send flowers or gifts to instead support them by donating to The Rocket Foundation, an organization started to honor Takeoff and support programs that aim to save lives from gun violence.
Police are continuing their ongoing investigation to bring justice to the family, but no arrests have been made yet.
